My Week In Pictures #5

I feel like i've had so much to do, but nothing looks done, you know? I had every intention of blogging some lovely recipes but it just didn't happen. All good things come to those who wait though, i promise!

Here are this weeks snaps. Got some lovely ones of the super moon. My camera is old and not so super but i got some craters so i'm happy with that!

Gorgeous flowers at the garden centre

Rare decent shot of me before going out to celebrate my wonderful friends 40th!

The bacon sandwich that helped my huge hangover!

 Weird clouds

Frying onion and garlic for pasta

Weird green spider in one of the clothes pegs!

We're off to London for the weekend on saturday so i'll have lots of lovely pictures to show you next week and a lovely recipe. It involves toffee, apple and pastry, so you don't want to miss it!
Have a great week everyone x

Barry M Limited Edition Pink Neon Nail Polish

We popped into town yesterday for a cheeky Costa and a look around Waterstones. As always i popped into Superdrug to have a look for new nail polish. I knew they had an offer on that you got one of two limited edition colours when you spent £6 or more and as much as i love green, it was too lime green for me so i picked up the pink.

I unscrewed the cap and you can see it's a sheer jelly. Now jellies are great but i wanted the pink to pop out so i immediately thought of layering it over a white base. When i got home i had a quick google and found a fair few people complaining that it didn't apply to the nail as it appears in the bottle. It's really sheer and so that is of course the case. But layering it over the white? Well see the results for your self. Pictures really don't do this colour justice. Get it. When it starts to chip/get tip wear i'm going to stamp some leopard print over the top. RAWR! These pictures are all one coat of Barry M Matt White and two coats of Barry M Limited Edition Pink, and then one coat of Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat.

Cloudy day. But wow - NEON!

Cloudy day. This truly shows the neon, the others make it look 'pinker' than it is

 Cloudy day

 Cloudy day

Cloudy day. I left the blurry ones, still shows the colour!

And just briefly, i haven't edited these pictures at all, all i have done with some is crop them. And i make all apologies for the state of my cuticles. They are neglected!

My Week In Pictures #3

Summer was fun wasn't it? All two weeks. My 'tan' has gone already *sad face*

Didn't get up to too much this week. Again, i can't quite believe it's wednesday already. Was going to post a couple of lovely summery recipes today but i might wait for the weather to pick up! And with that said, here are this weeks snaps...

What did you get up to this week?

Simple summer salad

Try saying that after a few pints!
Very quick post today but i had to share my dinner with you. So easy and yet so quick and tasty.

You will need:
  • 1/4 of a ripe melon
  • 1/2 a ripe avocado
  • Approx 2 Little Gem lettuces or 1 Butterhead (or other lettuce of your choice)
  • A ripe tomato (room temp)
  • Half a lime
  • Large splodge of mayonnaise
  • Large splodge of ketchup
  • Splash of Worcester sauce
  • Paprika to taste
  • Very large handful of prawns (or as many as you want!)
Put your torn lettuce in a bowl (i used a pasta bowl) Do not cut the lettuce with a metal knife as it discolours. Chop your melon, avocado and tomato and put on top of the lettuce. Tomatoes taste so much better at room temperature so i take them out an hour before (if i remember!)
To make your sauce, put mayonnaise and ketchup in a small bowl. I say large splodge but you want enough sauce for your needs. I used a couple of tablespoons of each. Add the worcester sauce, a little paprika and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice. I only had lime. Use a small whisk or fork to combine. Taste and change as needed.
Pop your prawns on your salad and pour the sauce over. Add a final squeeze of lime over the whole thing and that's it. Took me less than five minutes. Perfect after a day in the sun. Cool, tasty and refreshing. And so retro!

Let me know if you try this and tell me what you think x

PS i never claimed to be a food photographer so apologies for the quality of them!

My Week In Pictures #2

Seeing as how i'm british, you know how i am going to open this post....

THE SUN! Big ball of fire in the sky makes me happy and dries my clothes! I've not had a garden since i left home all those years ago so being able to put the washing out and have a cheeky laze about has been blissful! What have you been doing in this lovely weather? As always on a thursday i spend it indoors at work but certainly made use of it at the weekend and beginning of the week. Here is my week in pictures

Crazy child!!! And do you like the new arrival? Not mine i hasten to understand but my sister horse. His name is Bertie xx
